Fed up with underhanded tactics in the 2007 municipal campaigns, the City of Norman wants to change their municipal elections laws.

The proposed amendment would require candidates to publish campaign financiers the day before elections, among other reforms. This information would remove the ability for a candidate to run a “stealth” campaign - receiving and utilizing large sums of money in the last few days of an election. The current law provided by the state election rules allows for candidates to have little accountability for campaign donations late in a campaign.
