A busy week for the Borens in Oklahoma

In the hyped Senate District 43 race featuring David L(ee) Boren and Jim Reynolds, there was a close finish between the candidates. 159 votes close. Granted, the Dems spent tons-o-cash smearing Reynolds. Now, the Boren fellow wants a recount. Using the Al Gore Rule, the race has to at least within 1% in order to complain, Boren is within reason to request the re-count. Using the George W. Bush Rule, we are allowed to poke fun at this request. The recount will occur next week.

Meanwhile, in the other half of the state, another Boren was on the loose. Dan Boren announced that he would not run for governor in the 2010 race. Looks like we were right in leaving Boren out of the Goober-Ten Power Poll.

Meanwhile, again, Papa-Boren said he would not serve in the administration under a President Obama. Instead, Boren and other education leaders want to rob the Rainy Day Fund to offset “needed” tuition hikes.

Not a bad week by any standards for a surname in local politics.
